About Us
Our club was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation on August 8, 2000 in the state of Idaho under its previous name, Treasure Valley Figure Skating Club, Inc.. Our club changed its name to Boise Figure Skating Club, Inc. on March 9, 2004.
Our club is run strictly by volunteers. The affairs of our club are governed by our Board of Directors.
Every June, we host the Boise Ice Classic, a competition sanctioned by the U.S. Figure Skating, where skaters from the beginning level (Basic 1) to the advanced senior level will showcase their skills and compete. We also offer two test sessions per year so skaters can advance to higher levels and continually challenge themselves and their skating abilities.
Our club has close ties with the Idaho Ice World, our local ice rink. The Idaho Ice World offers a basic figure skating skills program called Learn To Skate as well as freestyle skating and public skating sessions.
Members of our club volunteer their time as coaching assistants at Idaho Ice World’s Learn To Skate program. Our skaters also perform during the Holiday On Ice show and provide intermission entertainment at the Idaho Steelheads and Junior Idaho Steelheads games throughout the year.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to foster amateur competition in figure skating and to promote the advancement of figure skating in the Boise community and surrounding areas. Our goal is to represent skaters and their parents within the rules and bylaws of U.S. Figure Skating by encouraging the instruction, practice and advancement of skaters in all disciplines of figure skating. We encourage and cultivate a spirit of shared effort and accomplishment among figure skaters by providing a positive and healthy environment for skaters and their families. This is achieved by promoting and encouraging mental disciplines and physical well-being. We sponsor, produce or cooperate in the production of amateur ice carnivals and shows. In addition, we generally perform other acts as may be necessary, advisable, proper or incidental to the realization of the objectives and purposes of our club while carrying out the general policies of U.S. Figure Skating.

You must be a current member of U.S. Figure Skating and in good standing to compete, test or perform in any event hosted by our club and sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating.
The club relies on volunteers to meet all of its staffing needs. There are NO paid employees. Our club members are happy to volunteer each year or “opt out” (and pay an opt-out fee). Anybody may volunteer in many different ways. We would be happy to find a job to fit your particular schedule and skills. Throughout the year, we request volunteers for various events, competitions, exhibitions, and fundraising. All club members are encouraged to participate in club fundraising activities.
Each year our Board of Directors will determine if financial assistance will be given to a skater who participates in a qualifying competition and for officers to attend the U.S. Figure Skating Governing Council meeting. Fee assistance for skaters will be made available only for those who have been a club member in good standing for at least one year prior to the scheduled event. Fee assistance for skaters will be given after completion of the event. The fee assistance is given at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
